There are still three episodes of The Pitt season 2 left to air in the UK, but with the season having long since finished releasing in the US, progress is swiftly being made on the show’s upcoming third run.

In fact, it has now been confirmed that season 3 is officially in production, with HBO Max announcing the news in a post on its social media channels.
The announcement was accompanied by a video revealing the returning cast members via their character’s lanyards, with Noah Wyle of course leading the way as his central character Dr Robby.
Also confirmed to return for season 3 are Sepideh Moafi as Dr Baran Al-Hashimi, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Ayesha Harris as Dr Parker Ellis, Fiona Dourif as Dr Cassie McKay and Patrick Ball as Dr Frank Langdon.
Meanwhile, Taylor Dearden is returning as Dr Melissa ‘Mel’ King, as is Isa Briones as Dr Trinity Santos, Gerran Howell as Dr Dennis Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Victoria Javadi and Shawn Hatosy as Dr Jack Abbot.

There were no particular surprises in the list which was unveiled. A number of the actors had already confirmed their involvement, while it was reported earlier in the year that Ayesha Harris, who has played Dr Ellis in a supporting role as a night shift doctor since season 1, would be becoming a series regular as her character joins the day shift.
It had also been confirmed that one major character wouldn’t be returning, with Supriya Ganesh’s Dr Samira Mohan leaving after season 2.
As with seasons 1 and 2, season 3 is expected to arrive in January in the US, with the UK release also expected to sync up now that HBO Max is live on this side of the pond.
Wyle has also confirmed that the new season will be set “in early November, just before the holidays, ushering in a whole new set of emergencies and confrontations and complications.”
