The new releases had a fair weekend at the India box office, with Haunted: Echoes of the Past 3D emerging as the clear winner among the lot. The horror film led the pack on all three days and ended its opening weekend with a healthy Rs. 9.38 crores nett.


Haunted: Echoes of the Past 3D opened at Rs. 2.50 crores on Friday, grew well to Rs. 3.33 crores on Saturday and further collected Rs. 3.55 crores on Sunday. Though the Sunday growth was limited, the film had already taken a good lead over the other new releases and comfortably topped the weekend chart.
Main Vaapas Aaunga took the second spot with a weekend total of Rs. 5.63 crores nett. The film started at Rs. 1.28 crores on Friday, jumped to Rs. 1.85 crores on Saturday and showed another solid rise on Sunday with Rs. 2.50 crores. Its day-wise trend was encouraging, especially the Sunday jump. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata collected Rs. 4.13 crores nett over the weekend. The film earned Rs. 1 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.40 crores on Saturday and Rs. 1.73 crores on Sunday. The growth was steady across the weekend, though the overall total remained modest. Governor finished the weekend with Rs. 3.49 crores nett. It collected Rs. 0.94 crores on Friday, Rs. 1.15 crores on Saturday and Rs. 1.40 crores on Sunday. The film showed growth on both Saturday and Sunday but remained the lowest among the four releases.
Overall, the four new releases together collected around Rs. 22.63 crores nett over the weekend. The combined business rose from Rs. 5.72 crores on Friday to Rs. 7.73 crores on Saturday and Rs. 9.18 crores on Sunday, indicating a decent upward trend through the weekend.
