Charlton and Leicester City battle it out on Saturday in a one-off Women’s Super League play-off showdown.
For the 2026/27 season, the WSL will expand to 14 teams, so there will be a promotion/relegation play-off between bottom in the WSL and third in the WSL 2 for a spot in the top flight next campaign.
Leicester finished bottom of the WSL after winning just two of their 22 games. The Foxes head into the crunch clash in dismal form, having lost their last 12 outings in all competitions.
Charlton looked set to confirm automatic promotion to the WSL to play in the division for the first time but Karen Hills’ side lost three of their last four games to see Birmingham City and Crystal Palace finish in the top two.
The Addicks, who lost against Birmingham on the final day of the season to end their automatic promotion hopes, now have to settle for a play-off. They will be boosted by the fact the game will be held at The Valley.
