Another week, another 5 drama to get stuck into and brand new psychological thriller The Fortune is set to keep viewers guessing as we’re all thrown into an unlikely scenario that really does ask whether or not us at home would act in the same way.

Across four episodes, we follow Amanda (Eleanor Tomlinson), who is living a happy life of her own when she’s quickly plummeted into disarray after finding out that a mystery man has left her his entire estate. But would you keep the money or seek to find out just who the man in question is?
It’s a bit of a moral conundrum but as we see, Amanda isn’t one to simply sit idly by and she soon starts to uncover some serious truths about those around her.
Of course, her search takes her all around and we start to see the idyllic settings in which she lives with husband Jimmy (Matthew Lewis) and son Luke (James Younger). But where is The Fortune filmed? Read on to find out.

The Fortune was mainly filmed in Hartlepool, an industrial port town in County Durham.
In fact, the location was an ideal one for Callum Woodhouse, who stars in the series as Anthony. Speaking about how ideal it was to film where he hails from, Woodhouse told 5: “Out of the whole cast I had the luxury that we filmed the show where I am from.
“The production called to say they were looking at hotels and air b&bs for me to stay in and I asked if I could just stay with my mum and dad because it was closer to set than all the places they were looking at. I stayed with them the whole shoot.
“We were filming in places where I’d been for Sunday lunch. I became the guru for all the cast on what to do at the weekends. On the Monday they would go ‘great recommendation!’ after I’d been stressing all weekend whether they were having a good time.”
Of course, the series utilises many places in and around Hartlepool, with the harbour featuring in the series and being a particular highlight for Tomlinson.
Also chatting about her favourite location to film in, she said: “There was a fishing harbour where we did the “happy place” scenes. It was like being on a film set without having been dressed. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us. It was an extraordinary place to film. We could have been anywhere in the world. It’s bizarre and beautiful and really lent itself to the eeriness and oddness of the series.
“I loved filming in Hartlepool. I have never worked with such a fantastic and friendly crew. It was an absolute joy to spend eight weeks there. More money should be invested in the Northeast to champion the talent there.”
It was also a location that was close by for Stephen Tompkinson, who plays Boots. “I don’t usually get the fortune to stay at home when I’m filming, so the luxury of throwing yourself into filming but being at home every night was a perfect treat,” he said.
The actor also added: “There’s a lot of filming going on in the North East and a lot of fantastic graduates from The Northern School of Art who are brilliantly talented and keen to progress further whilst the opportunities are available. People are keen to film up here, so every occasion & location feels exciting.”
