Music composer Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, recently shared a personal anecdote about one of the most cherished items in his Chennai studio. The composer revealed that a framed poster of Michael Jackson’s Bad album, displayed prominently in his workspace, has been with him since his school days.

Recalling how he first came across the poster, DSP said, “There’s nobody who’s not in love with this poster because this was a poster that I bought as a kid and it’s an original one as well. For going to school, we would cross Vadapalani, used to go by bus and then by cycle. I grew up like that. So they used to sell posters on the street and it was one of those posters I bought that time. I had it all these years and when I built my studio I made it a point to frame it and keep it over there.”

The composer explained that he held on to the poster for decades, eventually placing it in his studio once he had his own space. For DSP, the poster is not just a decorative element but a reminder of his early influences and journey.

Devi Sri Prasad has often spoken about the impact Michael Jackson had on him as an artist. From performance style to stage presence, the influence of the late pop icon can be seen in DSP’s approach to music and live shows.
