“Darkness ahead.” Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the first look teaser trailer for an intriguing mystery film titled simply Verity, arriving to watch in theaters starting in October this fall. Verity is a sexy psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel “Verity” and features a stunning cast to get your attention. Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett star as the trio at the center of this story. Lowen Ashleigh gets hired by Jeremy Crawford to ghostwrite novels for his bestselling author wife Verity, who’s unable to finish them after a accident. However, Lowen uncovers Verity’s disturbing truths in a manuscript while residing at the Crawfords’ home. Just know: “There is no light where we’re going.” Which sounds ominous. What happens next once she finds out the truth? Starring Johnson as Lowen, Hathaway as the titular Verity, Hartnett as Jeremy, with Ismael Cruz Córdova, Brady Wagner, Irina Dvorovenko, K.K. Moggie, and Michael Abbott Jr. An early first glimpse even though this won’t be out until October. It seems like a worthwhile erotic thriller with plenty of secrets waiting to be uncovered. Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson) is a writer in need of work when she is contacted by Jeremy Crawford (Josh Hartnett). Jeremy’s wife is the bestselling author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway), and due to a mysterious accident, she is unable to finish her successful book series. Jeremy asks Lowen to complete the series, and while working on it, she discovers a manuscript that raises questions on Verity’s psychological well being and possible links to her publications. Verity is directed by the American filmmaker Michael Showalter, director of the films The Baxter, Hello My Name is Doris, The Big Sick, The Lovebirds, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Spoiler Alert, The Idea of You, and Oh What Fun recently. The screenplay is written by Nick Antosca (of The Forest, Antlers, “Channel Zero”, “The Act”, “Cape Fear“). Adapted from the book of the same name written by Colleen Hoover.
