Despite being an American author, Harlan Coben’s novels are often adapted to be set in the UK.

From the likes of Fool Me Once, The Stranger and more recently Run Away, his Netflix thrillers have become recognised for their twists – and I Will Find You is no different in that respect, but does mark the first American-based adaptation of Coben’s.

The eight-part series is certainly gritty as we follow father David Burroughs (Sam Worthington), who is serving a life sentence for the murder of his son. When he’s alerted to the fact that his son Matthew may actually be alive, he escapes prison in order to find out the truth – and it’s certainly a rollercoaster of events to come.

But as mentioned, I Will Find You isn’t set against the British countryside or a gated community. So, where is the Netflix series filmed? Read on to find out.

I Will Find You was filmed across Canada, specifically in Kingston, Toronto and Ontario.

Filming for the series took place from April to August 2025, with notable locations including Kingston Penitentiary (which was obviously used as the prison that David escaped from) and University of Toronto Mississauga campus.

Further scenes were filmed in late August 2025 in New York, with locations including Washington Square Park, Central Park and Times Square. As fans of the show will recognise, those locations are central to the first episodes in which we see Rachel (Britt Lower) help David keep cover in New York – but are soon found.

I Will Find You marks Coben’s first US-based series adaptation with Netflix. As fans of his shows will know, his dramas have usually been set in the UK or across Europe in countries like Spain and France.

“Netflix has been an amazing creative partner all over the globe — and now we get to come home and do it here in the United States. We have a dream team of talent,” Coben told Tudum.
