Netflix has announced its first Telugu Original Series, Super Subbu, a comedy-drama created and directed by Mallik Ram. Starring Sundeep Kishan, Mithila Palkar, and Murali Sharma in lead roles, the series is set to premiere on the streaming platform on July 2.

Set in the fictional village of Maakipur, Super Subbu follows the journey of Subramanyam Chillukuri Rao, fondly known as Subbu, an earnest young man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is appointed as a sex education officer. Despite having no prior experience, Subbu finds himself tasked with educating villagers on sensitive topics, leading to a series of humorous, chaotic, and thought-provoking situations.

What begins as a temporary posting soon transforms into a life-changing experience for Subbu as he navigates the challenges of his profession while balancing matters of love, family, and career. The series explores themes of sex education, consent, family dynamics, generational differences, and relationships through a light-hearted narrative.

Creator and director Mallik Ram shared his vision behind the show, saying, “With Super Subbu, we wanted to tell a story that is fun and full of heart while also making conversations around topics like sex education feel less taboo. Written by Mallik Ram, Ramesh Eligeti, and Shivani Dhobal, Super Subbu is produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Bharath Laxmipati under the banner of Chilaka Productions. The ensemble cast also features Get Up Srinu, Maanasa Choudhary, Jeevan, and Brahmanandam in key roles.

Super Subbu will begin streaming on Netflix from July 2.
