Germany and Ivory Coast will be hoping to continue their perfect starts to the World Cup when they meet at the Toronto Stadium on Saturday evening.

Die Mannschaft kicked off their campaign with a comfortable 7-1 victory over Curacao, although the minnows gave them a fright as Livano Comenencia cancelled out Felix Nmencha’s early goal. The parity didn’t last too long, however, as goals from Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, Deniz Undav and two from Kai Havertz did the damage.
Ivory Coast’s opening Group E game was a little more dramatic. The Elephants’ goal was living a charmed life for the first half of their match with Ecuador before securing all three points at the death thanks to substitute Amad Diallo’s late strike.
As well as making it two wins from two, the victorious team will effectively be able to start making plans for the knockout stage of the tournament.
Germany or Ivory Coast could even be guaranteed a top-two finish if Ecuador and Curacao play out a draw in the group’s other game in the early hours of Sunday morning.
