Hit horror-comedy series Widow’s Bay, which has been entrancing viewers since it debuted on Apple TV in April, has officially been renewed for a second season.

The show’s renewal comes ahead of season 1’s final episode airing, with that instalment set to arrive next week, on Wednesday 17 June.
The renewal was announced in a video posted by Apple TV, featuring Matthew Rhys (The Americans) as his character Tom Loftis, and Jeff Hiller (Pluribus) as his character, Dale.
Meanwhile, creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold said in a statement: “Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV added: “From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laugh and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro [Murai, executive producer and director], Matthew and the entire team have created.
“It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”
The first season of Widow’s Bay has starred Rhys alongside Kate O’Flynn (Everyone Else Burns), Stephen Root (Get Out), Kingston Rumi Southwick (56 Days), Kevin Carroll (Snowfall), Dale Dickey (Dutton Ranch), K Callan (Poker Face) and Hiller.

Dippold previously told Radio Times that she couldn’t originally imagine Rhys in the role of Tom Loftis, but after she did a Zoom call with him alongside Murai, “we both just had this gut feeling, we just had such a good feeling about it”.
“It was just crystal clear, like, ‘Oh, this is our Loftis’,” Dippold said. “And now it’s just crazy. I cannot imagine the show with anyone else. He’s so perfect for it.”
Widow’s Bay is available to stream on Apple TV. The season 1 finale will be released on Wednesday 17 June. Start your seven day free Apple TV trial.
